A WAY TO RESTORE THE NATIVE AFRICAN FLORA
The company founders' roots stem from Namibia, where they have grown up on agricultural farms. Namibia has been widely affected by the overgrowth of invasive bush species. Encroachment bush, like Sekelbos (Dichrostachys Cinera) and Swarthaak (Vachillia Mellifera) significantly decrease the land's livestock carrying capacity and robs landowners of precious groundwater. These effects have negative ecological and economic implications.
GREENLAB FORESTRY harvests and sources encroachment bush, utilizing this abundant resource for braai wood and charcoal production and at the same time help farmers reverse the negative effects of invader bush. At the moment, GREENLAB FORESTRY sells harvested wood and charcoal in bulk and packaged to distributors and retailers. To add value and create jobs, biomass is sourced on company grounds and from various farmers. In the long run, we would like to use harvested encroachment bush for energy creation by means of gasification, thereby creating jobs and giving something back to the community, in the form of electricity.
